After School Programs

Neighborhood Rec Program

Our Neighborhood Rec Program serves grades Kindergarten through 5th grade.

Free after school recreation program open to all of Hood County. RBCCS is a soft place to fall for many, and we work really hard to ensure our communities children have a safe place to stay while their parents are at work.

Every day we start with a "family Talk"/ announcements, a prayer, and a warm meal. We provide outside activities, daily homework support, reading and math tutoring, substance abuse prevention, and finance literacy, while also ensuring their nutritional, social, and emotional needs are being met daily.

Our weekly schedule is as follows...

Math Monday- We work on whatever math skills the kids are working on in school, they practice their math skills by having fun and playing different math games, we also use this time to work on math homework.

Reading Tuesday- We work on reading every day but focus on reading heavily every Tuesday. Kids read and are able to earn "Rancho Bucks" depending on what book they read, how well they are able to describe what they read, and if they complete a book report on their book. They are able to shop in our "Rancho Buck" store every Friday, and buy prizes, snacks and school supplies. Our Fifth graders have started a book club and call themselves "The Rancho Readers", they meet every Tuesday and take turns reading a book of their choosing, while eating snacks and having in depth conversations about what they are reading. They each get their own copy of the book and get to keep it, it has been very cool to witness how their book club grows and develops!

Wednesday- We partner with a community partner in order to provide substance use/misuse awareness to our kiddos. These lessons include teaching about emotional regulation, mental health, impulse control, peer resistance, self-esteem, and other skills.

Thursday- STEM activities provide a way for our kiddos to learn through play. We handpick activities that allow for our kiddos to practice and hone in on their creativity, critical thinking, communication, teamwork, and character building.

Friday- It has so far been a busy and fun-filled week at RBCCs. We want to encourage our kids to have a break. We allow for Fridays to become Free Fridays. We aspire to have a positive atmosphere where children can safely play with their friends.
