Neighborhood Rec Program
Neighborhood Rec Program
Our Neighborhood Rec Program serves Kindergarten through 5th grade and is completely free and open to all of Hood County. RBCC is a soft place to fall for many, ensuring children have a safe, nurturing environment while their parents are at work.
Each day begins with a "Family Talk," announcements, a group prayer, and a warm, nutritious meal. Throughout the week, students participate in outdoor play, homework help, reading and math tutoring, substance abuse prevention, and financial literacy lessons—all while nurturing their social, emotional, and nutritional well-being.
Weekly Schedule:
Math Monday: We focus on math skills currently being taught in school, reinforce concepts through interactive games, and assist with math homework.
Reading Tuesday: While reading happens daily, Tuesday is our deep-dive literacy day. Students can earn "Rancho Bucks" by completing books and book reports. Our 5th graders have formed "The Rancho Readers" book club, meeting weekly to discuss chosen books and enjoy snacks. Each child gets their own copy of the book to keep.
Wellness Wednesday: In partnership with a local organization, we offer substance use/misuse awareness programming. Topics include emotional regulation, impulse control, peer resistance, self-esteem, and mental health.
STEM Thursday: Students explore hands-on STEM activities that build creativity, problem-solving, communication, teamwork, and character development.
Free Friday: After a busy and enriching week, Fridays are for fun and relaxation. We encourage positive social play and free time in a safe, joyful atmosphere.
This program is designed to empower, educate, and support Hood County youth with a whole-child approach in a welcoming, supportive environment
